You’re the average of the products and services you use…

I realise it is a very insignificant level of discomfort compared to the bigger challenges in the world, but still…

The other day I decided to change from my beloved Urban Bites crisps to enjoy a small box of Pringles instead. I don’t know if it is the local supermarket thinking to make some nice margins by screwing people over with leftover damaged goods; or Proctor & Gamble thinking it can dump its damaged goods onto an indifferent African market where anything goes – or both.

Either way, it seriously bothers me how as consumers we pay premium prices for inferior products – and that’s not just with crisps, but all sorts of food items and other consumer goods and even (or maybe especially) electronics that often don’t meet reasonable standards.

SPARK OF THE DAY

There’s a saying that you’re the average of the 5 people you surround yourself with. Taking it beyond crisps, I would like to extend that to “you’re the average of the products & services you work with”.

We have to stop settling for anything less than excellence, we’re worth it!

P.S. Talking of Proctor & Gamble dumping inferior goods onto the African market: check out #MyAlwaysExperience on Twitter from last year…
