Are you also in the habit of running double shifts?

The above is a very embarrassing exchange I had with Christine, one of our program participants. Embarrassing as really, who would tell someone they can’t meet on certain days because giving feedback is not part of their job?!! Of course I didn’t mean it like that and since Christine is a creator as well, I think she was able to see through it all, but still…

Why did I refer to “creating content” as work, and meeting with her not? Taking some time to reflect I think that it has to do with the ease of doing the task. To create content, I really need to set aside large spaces of time so I can reflect, play, develop…  while meeting with people like Christine for me is fun! It’s the reason why I started my business in the first place!

(Come to think of it, for Christine meeting me might be work for her, while meeting with her customers she will see as fun.)

SPARK OF THE DAY

No wonder I try to cramp so many hours in a week – I run double shifts!

Meeting with participants to discuss progress = work; meeting at a cafe with employees, co-founders or business partners = work; spending time on the phone and on whatsapp to project manage (a nice word for pushing) people to deliver on time, or better: not too late so it becomes useless = work!

Work comes in many guises, sometimes it’s fun, sometimes it’s creative, sometimes is tedious… nevertheless, it’s all work! So my learning: don’t try to cramp too much of it in your week!
